Waterproofing before tiles
Membranes, bond breakers and falls to waste are set out and cured before a single tile goes down — the part of a bathroom nobody sees and everybody pays for twice when it is rushed.
We tile bathrooms, kitchens, floors and commercial fit-outs across Melbourne's western suburbs — waterproofing, substrate prep and finishing handled by the one crew.
Membranes, bond breakers and falls to waste are set out and cured before a single tile goes down — the part of a bathroom nobody sees and everybody pays for twice when it is rushed.
We mark the centre lines, balance the cuts at both walls and agree the layout with you before adhesive is mixed. No slivers of tile in the doorway.
Large-format porcelain needs a flat bed and levelling clips. We screed or self-level the substrate first rather than chasing the deviation with adhesive.
From a single splashback to a full commercial floor, the work is quoted by the square metre with the preparation itemised, so you can see what you are paying for.
Showers, hobs, niches, baths and laundries — waterproofed, screeded to fall and tiled wall-to-floor with the junctions detailed properly.
DetailsSubway, mosaic, slab-look porcelain and full-height splashbacks cut around power points, rangehoods and window reveals.
Details600×600, 900×900 and plank-format porcelain laid over a levelled bed with clip systems, movement joints and balanced grout lines.
DetailsMarble, travertine, limestone and bluestone — dry-laid for vein match where it matters, then sealed before and after grouting.
DetailsBalconies, alfresco slabs, porches and pool surrounds in external-grade porcelain and pavers, with drainage falls and slip-resistant finishes.
DetailsRetail, hospitality, childcare and aged-care tiling staged around trades and trading hours, including coved skirtings and stair nosings.
DetailsECO Craft Tiling Group works the way a tiling job should be sequenced: strip out, assess the substrate, prepare it, waterproof it, let it cure, then tile. Nothing is compressed to finish a day early.
The "eco" in our name is about waste, not marketing. Offcuts are planned from the setout rather than created by it, tile boxes and pallets go back or get recycled, and adhesive and grout are mixed in batches sized to the area so the excess does not end up in a bin or a drain.
We are a registered Australian company — ECO Craft Tiling Group Pty Ltd, ABN 94 701 356 934 — working out of postcode 3029 in Victoria.
More about how we workEvery job follows the same order, because skipping a stage is what causes drummy tiles, cracked grout and leaking showers.
We look at the substrate, the falls, the tile you have chosen and the access, then quote the preparation and the tiling as separate line items.
Strip out, patch, prime, screed or self-level. Sheeting checked for movement, penetrations sealed, falls set to the waste.
Wet areas get bond breakers at the junctions and the coats the membrane manufacturer specifies, with full cure time before tiling.
Setout marked, tiles laid and levelled, movement joints allowed for, then grouted, siliconed, cleaned down and handed back.
Email the room dimensions and the tile you are considering and we will come back with a written quote covering preparation, waterproofing and tiling.
