Privacy Policy

1. Our commitment

ECO Craft Tiling Group Pty Ltd ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in that Act. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we may share it with, and the choices available to you.

"Personal information" means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether the information is true or not and whether recorded in a material form or not.

2. What personal information we collect

We collect only the information we need to quote, carry out and invoice tiling work, and to respond to enquiries. This ordinarily includes:

• Identity and contact details — your name, email address, and the address, suburb and postcode of the site where work is to be carried out.
• Enquiry and job information — the details you provide about a room, substrate, tile selection, area, timing and budget, together with any plans, tile schedules, drawings or photographs you send us.
• Correspondence — the content of emails and messages between us, including quotations, variations and scheduling.
• Transaction records — invoices, payment references and remittance details necessary to complete and account for a job. We do not store full payment card numbers.
• Business contact details — where you contact us on behalf of a builder, shopfitter or other organisation, your role and business contact details.

We do not seek sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and we ask that you do not send it to us. If you provide personal information about another person (for example a tenant or a co-owner), please ensure they are aware of this policy.

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you wherever it is reasonable and practicable to do so — when you email us, complete the quote request form on this website, speak with us at a site measure, or engage us to carry out work. The quote request form on our contact page opens your own email application; the information is transmitted to us as an ordinary email and is not submitted to or stored by this website.

Occasionally we collect information from a third party, such as a builder, project manager, body corporate or real estate agent who engages us to attend a site on an owner's or occupier's behalf. If we receive personal information about you that we did not solicit and did not need, we will destroy or de-identify it where the Privacy Act permits us to do so.

4. Why we collect, hold, use and disclose it

We use personal information for the following purposes:

• preparing quotations and responding to enquiries;
• organising and carrying out site measures, preparation, waterproofing and tiling work;
• ordering materials and coordinating with suppliers and other trades on your job;
• invoicing, collecting payment and maintaining our financial and tax records;
• handling warranty questions, defect claims, repairs and complaints;
• meeting our legal, insurance, work health and safety, and building-related obligations; and
• improving how we quote, schedule and deliver our services.

We do not use your personal information for direct marketing without your consent, and we do not sell, rent or trade personal information to any third party under any circumstances.

5. Who we may disclose it to

We disclose personal information only where it is necessary for the purposes above, and only to:

• Suppliers and merchants — where materials must be ordered or delivered to your site address.
• Other trades and contractors — where they are working on the same job and coordination requires it (for example a plumber setting out a waste, or a waterproofing inspector).
• Our accountant, bookkeeper and insurers — for invoicing, tax compliance and claims.
• Our professional advisers — where we need legal or technical advice about a job.
• Government agencies, regulators, courts or tribunals — where disclosure is required or authorised by Australian law.

We do not currently disclose personal information to overseas recipients. Our email and file storage are provided by reputable service providers who may process data on servers located outside Australia; where that occurs we take reasonable steps under APP 8 to ensure the recipient handles the information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Cookies and this website

This website is a static site. It does not set advertising or analytics cookies, does not use tracking pixels, does not embed third-party fonts, scripts or social media widgets, and does not build a profile of your browsing.

Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, request time, page requested and browser type) for security, fault diagnosis and abuse prevention. Where such log data can identify you, it is treated as personal information under this policy and is retained only for as long as needed for those purposes.

Your browser may store limited information locally to display this site. You can block or delete browser storage through your browser settings; doing so will not affect your ability to use this website.

7. Data quality and security

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, up to date, complete and relevant. Please tell us if your details change.

We hold personal information in email accounts, cloud storage and accounting software that are protected by access controls and passwords, and in a limited amount of paper documentation such as signed quotations and site notes. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference and loss, and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; email in particular is not an inherently secure medium, and you send it to us at your own risk.

If we become aware of an eligible data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will assess and respond to it in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under Part IIIC of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including notifying affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where required.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for, or for as long as Australian law requires us to keep it. Financial and transaction records are generally retained for at least seven years to meet taxation requirements. Records relating to building and waterproofing work are retained for the period during which a claim could reasonably be brought in respect of that work. Unsuccessful enquiries and quotations that do not proceed are ordinarily deleted within two years. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, we destroy or de-identify it.

9. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you (APP 12);
• Request correction of information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading (APP 13);
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need, subject to our legal retention obligations;
• Deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym for general enquiries, where it is lawful and practicable to do so — although we cannot quote or carry out work at a site without contact and address details; and
• Ask how we handle your information and receive a copy of this policy free of charge.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We aim to respond within 30 days. Access is normally provided free of charge; if a request requires substantial work we may charge a reasonable cost-based fee and will tell you the amount before proceeding. If we refuse access or correction, we will give you written reasons and explain how to complain.

10. Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, please contact us first at [email protected] with the details. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it and respond in writing, ordinarily within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), the regulator responsible for privacy in Australia. The OAIC can be contacted by post at GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001, by telephone on 1300 363 992, or through its website at oaic.gov.au.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The current version is always published on this page with the date it was last updated. Material changes will apply from the date they are published.
